Academy Funding • Funding comes straight to the school (instead of through the LA) • School receives the LACSEG Grant (topslice) instead of the LA • Gordano would receive exactly £577,762 based on the Ready Reckoner

North Somerset • 40% cuts in N Somerset • Reduction in non-statutory services • Advisory service replaced by Exchange Board • Only 10 secondary schools • Wyvern becomes Hans Price Academy on 1 st May • Backwell Plan to open as an Academy on 1 st April • Priory, Gordano and Churchill consulting • North Somerset are ‘neutral’ on the issue of Academies

Freedoms? • Ability to set pay and conditions for staff (current staff TUPE on existing contracts) • Freedom from following the national curriculum • Ability to change the length of terms and school days • Greater control over school budgets – business freedoms • Freedom to spend all of the funds delegated for the school directly on the students in the school
