Activities… • Working with Ted Cantle – Govt Adviser on Community Cohesion – on countering extremism • Member of LGA Tourism, Culture & Sport Board– Building Cohesion through Sport • Community Cohesion Group at LSP made more effective with new Terms of Reference 7 NRF Community Chest • NRF Community Chest Allocations – 2006/07: £220,000; 2007/08: £220,000 • Sub-contracted management to South Yorkshire Key Fund; grants awarded through a partnership based Grants Panel • Increased Rotherham investment by bringing in EU funding as match 8

NRF II… • Further increase through Trust funding e.g. Lloyds Foundation • 2006/07 NRF spend target surpassed; total approvals (including other funds) of £393,712 • Key role in promoting social inclusion for target areas and communities of interest 9 Asylum Seekers � Implemented a new Asylum Seekers Strategy � EU Migrant workers included within the ToR of Working Party. � New contract with the Home Office which is working well. � “Myth Busting” – leaflet updated and distributed to all Members. 10

Community Planning and Community Leadership • Giving communities the opportunity to influence and shape service delivery at a local level • Community Leadership Fund can now be rolled forward • Community Leadership Fund £500 for each member increasing to £1000 next year 11 Community Planning and Community Leadership II � Reviewed all community partnerships and related staffing to be fit for future purpose � Refreshed Rotherham’s Community Development Strategy 12

Parish Councils • Visiting Parish Councils to discuss support arrangements to achieve Quality Parish Council Status • Championed the development of e-communications with Rotherham’s Parish Councils • Chair the Parish Council Network • Chair of the Joint Parish Council Charter Working Group • Ensured that Parish Councils are represented at a strategic level on a number of external bodies e.g. LSP 13 Equalities and Diversity � Achieved Equality Mark Award for Equality Standard Level 3 � Implemented Partnership Community Cohesion Action Plan. � Reviewed Community Legal, Welfare Rights and Money Advice Services � Developed new strategies to address inequalities, eg Disability Equality Scheme, Women’s Strategy. 14

Equalities and Diversity II � Developed translation, language and accessible communication policy. � Implemented equality training strategy � Performance Clinic – driving improvement by ensuring inclusive community involvement, monitoring impact of services and effective equality impact assessment. 15 Sustainable Development • Sustainable Development Improvement Plan developed for the Council • LSP piloting an Eco-foot printing project • Draft Toolkit for Impact Assessment out to consultation • Sustainable Development webpage produced • World Environment Day (5 June) preparations taking place with Environment Agency and Chamber of Commerce 16

Liaison with the Voluntary and Community Sector � Completing the Base Budget Review of the Sector (recommendations to Cabinet in the near future) � Review of the impact of the Compact. � Regular meetings with VAR to monitor their role in developing the Vol & Community Sector (VCS) in the borough and negotiating the next SLA. � Working with the Partnership on the long term sustainability of VCS infrastructure, organisations and networks. 17 Performance Report Q3 2006/07 18
