Our History

  • In 1998, then-Prime Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong urged the

Singapore Federation Of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (SFCCI) to examine how it could restructure itself, so as to enhance its effectiveness in serving members, as well as better promote Singapore’s national interest

  • SFCCI rose to the challenge and proposed the formation of

Singapore Business Federation (SBF)

  • SBF Act was passed by Parliament and became law on 5

Oct 2001 and SBF was formed on 1 Apr 2002

As part of the SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package, the SGUnited Jobs (SGUJ) Programme was announced on 26 Mar 2020 by DPM Heng and seeks to create more than 40,000 jobs in 2020, and assist companies with manpower issues during this difficult time.

Purpose of SGUJ :

  • Is a concerted effort to leverage on TAC channel to provide

employment opportunities for job seekers affected by the COVID- 19, by matching them to short-term jobs (including second job arrangements) as well as longer-term jobs. All companies incorporated in Singapore are eligible to participate in the SGUJ programme. These include SMEs, MNCs, trade associations and chambers (TACs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), non-profit organisations and the public sector. Applicable only to jobseekers who are Singaporeans and PRs
