  • 1. The line change is a minor adjustment: five miles or less.
  • 2. There is no apparent opposition to the change
  • 3. The Enforcement Consultants did not appear to have any issues

with the adjustment.

  • 4. The Coast Guard has stated they have no issues with the line

adjustment.

  • 5. Cleans up confusing boundary lines
  • 6. Creates safer conditions for traffic
  • 7. Eases port congestion in Ft Bragg
  • 8. Provides increased positive economic impact for the port of

Eureka

  • 9. Addresses National Standard 1: “Conservation and management

measures shall prevent overfishing while achieving, on a continuing basis, the optimum yield from each fishery for the United States fishing industry.” Optimum yield includes the economic benefit to fishing communities. Bringing a portion of the Fort Brag cell catch to Eureka will benefit both communities. Infrastructure in Eureka will experience a desperately needed boost and the intense pressure on Fort Brag infrastructure will be slightly relieved.
