Housi using ng – Helped change municipal policy and new technologies to increase efficiency; Created $8 Million capital pool to address abandoned properties and affordable housing Health th – Opened 5 school-based health centers to serve high-need schools located in “medical deserts; deployed hospital -based patient navigation team to serve families and schools; Expanding Medicaid funding to serve high-need students in high-poverty schools Nu Nutrition rition – Improved health quality of food service contract serving 10 Newark early childhood centers; introduced new municipal food policy standards; Created a “Food Innovation Zone” launching in 2017 STRONG HEALTHY COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE NEWARK, NJ PRESENTED BY MONIQUE BAPTISTE-GOOD 9
