Introduction
Aims of today:
We want your views about what you would like to see on this site, in
- rder to help us shape our proposals and ensure that we have
listened to the community. Last year the Council held a series of discussions and workshops with local
- communities. Feedback from these
events identified a number of key priorities, including new homes. The Council has responded by announcing a programme for delivery of 600 new homes, including a minimum of 300 Council homes for rent. One of the sites that has been identified with potential to build new homes is at Barlby Road.
First Stage Sites
The ‘First Stage’ sites aim to deliver a proportion of the overall
- programme. It is proposed that a mix of different types of homes is
delivered including council homes to rent, and open market homes. Grant funding has been secured from the Mayor’s office to assist with the delivery of council homes to rent. One of the four sites, shown below, that have been announced is the Barlby Road site. The aim is to deliver as many council homes to rent as possible to meet the pressing need for genuinely affordable housing.

Background
The Council has previously consulted with you in relation to the new Barlby schools proposals, and also the related improvements and alterations to the adjacent children's playground and ball court area. The new schools are now under construction with a target completion date by early 2021. The land released on the opening of the new schools is indicated approximately in red above. The site has been identified as having potential for the delivery of new homes. We would like to obtain your thoughts before work is commenced on producing proposals for the Barlby Road site.
