More flexibility

  • Our planning policies are being changed to

allow a wider range of uses on employment sites

  • These could include leisure, training,

nurseries, hotels, and some retail uses as well as the traditional B classes.

Small Units

  • Planning policies encourage the development
  • f small units but the way they are managed is

not a planning issue

  • So we encourage the provision of additional

managed workspace, but who will provide it?

  • Planning policies also encourage the

development of high value and knowledge based industries

Issues for Discussion

  • Is enough land allocated for employment

development (bearing in mind the overall policy of restraint)?

  • Is it in the right place?
  • Should we do anything in the short term to

make more land available, particularly in the Coastal Towns?
