MISSION:
The Mission of the National Sheep Industry Improvement Center is to improve the infrastructure of the U.S. sheep and goat industries by strengthening and enhancing the production and marketing of sheep, goats, and their products.
FUNDING PRIORITIES
The primary objective of the Grant Program is to fund a number of projects determined by industry leaders to be priorities for benefiting the sheep industry.
That list is:
- 1. Strengthen and enhance the
production and marketing of sheep and sheep products through initiatives that improve infrastructure, enhance resource development, and support innovative solutions to industry problems.
- 2. Provide leadership training and
education to industry stakeholders.
- 3. Enhance sheep and sheep products
in the United States through assistance to all segments of the industry to address sustainable production and marketing of sheep and sheep products.
- 4. Promote marketing strategies or
methods that can reliably be expected to have a long-term, positive impact on the sheep industry.
- 5. Enhance the sheep industry by
coordinating information and idea exchange to facilitate deeper understanding among industry stakeholders.
Grants:
The Center may use grants to provide funding for research on new products, technologies, or knowledge that will improve the efficiency, profitability, or quality of the sheep industry, and as seed money for the production and commercialization of new and innovative products or processes.
