• Require on every storey of your home and

What’s Recommended

• It’s also recommended to have one in all

sleeping area’s

• Installed in proper locations
• Test smoke alarm’s every month
• Change the batteries at least once a year
• Vacuum alarms annually
• Replace smoke alarms after 10 years

Home Escape Planning

• Develop and practice a home fire escape plan
• Plan for 2 ways out of every room if possible
• Make sure your exits are unobstructed and

easy to use

• Choose a meeting place
• Once out, stay out

Carbon Monoxide Alarms

• The Ontario Legislative Assembly has passed a

law that will require every home in Ontario equipped with fuel burning appliances or heating systems (including gas furnaces and gas fireplaces), wood burning fireplaces, attached garages and carports, to have a carbon monoxide detector.
