Move Well Eat Well
Why Move Well Eat Well?
- Children are now 3.5 times more likely to be in front of
a computer or television screen after school than playing sport
- On average children are eating only 50% of the
recommended intake of fruit and 30% of the recommended intake of vegetables
- Healthy eating and physical activity are associated
with improved learning and concentration, better mood and behaviour, healthy growth and weight, and lifelong health and wellbeing.

Move Well Eat Well Why Move Well Eat Well?
- Many Tasmanian children are choosing sweet drinks
- n a regular basis and these are linked to tooth decay
and are a significant risk factor for overweight and
- besity
- Researchers have found that over 90% of children
have “junk” food in their lunchboxes
- 1 in 5 children are either overweight or obese (and
we’d like this proportion to drop and certainly not grow)
