BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

Why do we have City Boards and Commissions?

  • Volunteer members research and review City programs and advise and

recommend action to City Council.

  • Citizens have a voice on issues early in the decision cycle, provide greater

community participation in local government.

Board and Commission Membership

  • Members are appointed and their areas of responsibility can be both broad

and narrow in focus.

  • Each Board and Commission is empowered to make recommendations to the

City Council. They make many decisions, but do not pass legislation, nor make the final determination of City policies.
