Middle & High School Teachers Report all classes taught on BEDS Day (October 4, 2017) first;  With the remaining assignments, report additional classes taught on  A, B, C, D, etc. days that are taught to different groups of students during the Fall Semester, and be sure to report each unique assignment code; Do not report labs if you teach both lecture and lab to the same  group of students. 12/5/2017 BEDS ePMF & CTLE 19

  21. Art, Music and PE Teachers This example shows a teacher that taught only Grades 1, 2, and 3 classes on BEDS day. Additional entries added to capture grades K, 4 and 5. Report all classes taught on BEDS Day (October 4, 2017) first;  With the remaining assignments, report as many classes as possible capturing  the various grade levels and be sure to report each unique assignment code and grade level combination; Do not combine classes and student registration numbers. You must report each  class separately showing the appropriate number of students in each class; For instrumental/music lesson groups, report the instrumental/music lessons  that you had on BEDS day. 12/5/2017 BEDS ePMF & CTLE 21

  22. Special Education, Consultant and Inclusion Teachers For Registration, Special Education Teachers should report only the number of  Students with Disabilities in the class being taught Special Education Teachers must use the 7000 series codes for Special Education  classes, and should not use the General Education code numbers. For example, 7730 – MATH 7 or 8 (SPEC ED), should be used instead of 4114 – Math 7 for a seventh grade Special Ed Math class. The full list of Special Education codes can be found on page 7 of the Assignment  Code for Teachers document that is listed on our website If an appropriate secondary Special Education course code cannot be found in the  list, an “other” code should be used. 7798 – OTHER SPECIAL CLASS (SPEC ED) 7-12 can be used when an assignment code under a specific subject area cannot be found; Consultant Teachers and Inclusion Teachers should use either code 7731 –  CONSULTANT TEACHER-ELEM K-6 or 7732 – CONSULTANT TEACHER SEC 7-12. 12/5/2017 BEDS ePMF & CTLE 22

AIS Teachers For Registration , AIS Teachers should report only the number of  students receiving AIS services in the class, not the total number of students in the class; There are special codes that AIS teachers must use and they are as  follows: Grades K-6 Grades 7-12 5582 – ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AIS, K-6 5592 – ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AIS, 7-12 5584 – SCIENCE AIS, K-6 5594 – SCIENCE-AIS, GR 7-12 5585 – SOCIAL STUDIES AIS, K-6 5595 – SOCIAL STUDIES-AIS, GR 7-12 5587 – MATH, K-6 5597 – MATH AIS, 7-12 12/5/2017 BEDS ePMF & CTLE 23

  24. ENL Teachers Do not use Code 8699 – ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE  Use grade level specific codes shown below:  12/5/2017 BEDS ePMF & CTLE 24

Continuing Teacher Leader Education (CTLE) 100 Hours of CTLE Required Every Five Years  CTLE must be taken through an approved Sponsor Language Acquisition Requirement (addressing the needs of English Language Learners)  15 of the 100 hours must be in language acquisition  Exception: holders of ESOL Certificates or Bilingual Extensions must have 50 of the 100 hours in language acquisition aligned with the core content area of instruction taught 12/5/2017 BEDS ePMF & CTLE 30

Continuing Teacher Leader Education (CTLE) Tracking of the 100 Hours is Done by the Teacher  Sponsor will provide a certificate for CTLE taken  Teacher can track their hours via a State Ed provided Excel sheet (available on NYSED CTLE website)  Teacher will attest that they completed the 100 hour requirement when they re-register  District does not send CTLE info to NYSED  Teacher does not need to send tracking info or sponsor certificates to NYSED  Teacher should retain info for three years 12/5/2017 BEDS ePMF & CTLE 31
