World Café Instructions

  • Gather into groups of four, moving your chairs

as much as possible so that you’re facing each

  • ther
  • Meet and briefly introduce each other
  • Decide who will be recorder and who will

serve as table hostess

Table Host Duties

  • The recorder will use colored markers to

–take note of key words and discoveries, or –draw symbols to represent ideas –capture conclusions and overall themes

  • Remain at the table when other leave, and

welcome travelers from other tables

  • Share the essence of the previous

conversation at the start of round 2.

  • There will be 2 questions poised for dialogue
  • Each question will be discussed in 2 rounds
  • Each round will be 10 minutes
  • At the end of round 1, chime and hostess will

remain, all others move to new tables. At chime, hostess will give overview of previous discussion and round 2 will begin (10 minutes)

  • Julie Detrick (Panelist):

Julie Detrick, MSN, RN, is currently a nurse manager at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center – The James Comprehensive Cancer Center. She has been at The James since 2011 where she is successfully managing a 411- bed medical-surgical oncology unit. Before coming to The James, Julie was the Director of Clinical Services at a 101 bed long-term acute care hospital.

Chenese Nicholas is a Nurse Manager at St Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport,

  • Connecticut. She is also a part of the

implementation team for Relationship-Based Care at St Vincent’s, the current chair of the Results Council and a facilitator for Re-Igniting the Spirit of Caring.
