What is the Michigan Data Hub?

► A Collaborative, Statewide Effort to Address Challenges

in Managing and Using School Data

► Standards-Based Exchange of Data, Allowing all

Systems to Look Like a Single SIS

► A Quick Reliable Way to Connect Data Systems ► Platform for Common Tools and Dashboards ► A Platform for Statewide Collaboration ► Local Control and Stewardship of Data ► SSO and Launchpad to Statewide Applications ► Statewide Support Network ► Funded by Section 22m of the School Aid Act ► Free to Michigan Districts (ISD, LEA, PSA)

What are the steps to set up MiDataHub , the Dashboards and EWS?

► Sign up for MiDataHub (If your district isn’t already signed up) ► Have your Superintendent e-sign the data hosting agreement ► Ensure that data is flowing from your district SIS, especially attendance,

grades and discipline

► Schedule a Build process to run nightly in the MiDataHub cockpit application ► Generate accounts for teachers (or “federate” district logins)

► Role Validation Report to indicate which roles each staff person has

► Enter desired interventions in the Intervention Catalog

► Eventually you will be able to adopt interventions from MiStrategyBank

► Train users in EWIMS and roll out the process

How can MiDataHub specifically help charter schools?

► Cost Savings – ROI Study concluded that MI schools can save as much as $56M

per year through improved data management and streamlined processes

► Equity – Turning every district into a data “Have” ► Common Tools – Allow charter schools access to the rapidly expanding set of

tools being developed for MiDataHub

► Allow for Innovation – Not only will this give equitable access to common

tools, but it could allow charter school groups such as this one to develop applications that connect in and leverage the data to provide valuable functionality

► Speed Up the Rate of Adoption – It typically takes days, weeks and even

months to get data into new systems and to get them up to speed. With MiDataHub, this can be reduced significantly – usually less than a day.
