- Previously Healthy 12 year old female girl arrived at ED with 3 day
history of headache, lethargy and fever of 103ºF
- Recent onset of nausea and vomiting
- Patient history of swimming in warm Florida freshwater
- CT scan of her head was normal
- Lab results: Increased WBC’s and anemia in CBC
- Lumber puncture performed: CSF revealed increased WBC’s,
mainly Neutrophils
- Gram Stain in Microbiology and Wright stain in Hematology
