Mutual Support & Mainstreaming

  • Mutual support group continues to work in traditional way

PLUS has to work outside of disability sector alone-must now

  • Engage in structures and activities outside of the disability

sector eg Local Govt.

  • Actively participating in the broader community- not just

the disability sector eg C&V Foras, FRCs, other groups

  • Actively engage with the issues of mainstream community

activities/groups- eg: have their needs visible in the 5 year Community Plan

  • Link themselves and their children into broader community

based supports setting the foundation for life in the Mainstream Community for their children in the future
