Skål Kenya
Skål Kenya is a vibrant and growing organisation with two eminently successful Clubs. Skål International Nairobi was founded in 1954 and is now 64-years young with 130 members, Skål Kenya Coast was founded in the 1960s, and has 60 members. Both Clubs have consistently achieved the growth targets set by Skål International and have the certificates to prove it. Skal Kenya won the bid to host the 2015 World Congress which was ultimately postponed. At the 2016 World Congress, Skal Kenya re- submitted and won its bid to host the 79th Skal International World Congress 2018 in Mombasa, Kenya.
Kenya
No other country on earth can offer the visitor as much to see and do. Within the borders of a single country, you will find savannahs rich with big game, timeless cultures unchanged by the modern world, pristine beaches and coral reef, equatorial forests and mighty snow-capped mountains, searing deserts and cool highland retreats and endless
- pportunities
for adventure, discovery, relaxation; more than you would ever expect... Kenya lies astride the equator on the eastern coast of Africa. It is a medium-sized country by continental standards; covering an area
- f
about 586,600 sq. km. The coastline, about 550
- km. long, faces the Indian Ocean.
The basic configuration is simple. Coastal plains give way to an inland plateau that rises gradually to the central highlands, which are the result of the relatively recent volcanic activity associated with the formation of the rift valley.
Mombasa
Mombasa is the second-largest City in Kenya and is located on the Indian Ocean a short distance south of the equator. It has a major port and an international airport, with a population of just under one million. The city is one of Africa’s major tourist destinations, with some of the best beaches in the world. The City traces many of its cultural traditions to former Portuguese, Arab and British settlers – all of which have left a lasting influence on the City’s food, architecture, and people. The average temperature during the Congress in October will be 25°C with highs in the region of 28°C. Light prevailing winds and occasional localised showers are also to be expected.
