■ Established in 03 19 1959 as department of the Soviet Union microbiological society; ■ 1988 the LMS had 95 members working in the sections of: – Technical microbiology; – General microbiology; – Water microbiology; – Agriculture microbiology; – Veterinary microbiology. ■ 1990 became the separate organization; ■ In 1997 LMS became the associate member of IUMS (International Union of Microbiological Societies); ■ 2015 – the restoration meeting in Vilnius. – New directorate:

■ President prof. Lilija Kalėdienė; ■ Vice President prof. Nomeda Kuisienė; ■ Tresurer assoc. prof. Eglė Lastauskienė ■ Secretary PhD Rūta Stanislauskienė ■ FEMS delegate PhD Audrius Gegeckas

■ 114 members in 2018.
