  1. LBBD Property Licensing Update Gary Jones Private Rented Property Licensing Enforcement Update September 2015.

Private Rented Property Licensing Update • To date there have been 10,000 applications received for private rented property licenses which equates to 66% of the private rented properties in the borough. • There have been over 3000 draft licenses issued. • There have also been over 2500 full licenses sent out – we are increasing resources allocated to issuing both the draft and full licenses in order to speed up the delivery of the licenses.

  3. Compliance Update • 6300 Compliance Inspections to date. • 5400 Fully Compliant. • 670 Properties been made compliant through informal or enforcement intervention. • 180 Non Compliant – Currently being dealt with by officers. • 20 One Year Licences have been determined where we have concerns over the management of the property. • Since 1 st September 2015 – All landlords that should have licensed, are automatically on annual licensing.

  4. Enforcement • 3 successful Prosecution as of August. Landlord operating an unlicensed property, failure to comply with a Housing Notice, Failure to comply to supply documentation. • Where we have criminal landlords, we are intending to seek Rent Repayment Orders as well as Interim Management and Final Management of unlicensed properties. • 7 pending Prosecutions. • 1600 Formal Investigations – Operating an Unlicensed Property. • 15 brought to licence through enforcement intervention £6,500 • 14 Formal cautions issued – Charges of £4,000 costs charged. • 8 Warrant of Entries for the purposes of inspecting homes. • 5 Joint operations with the Met Police on targeted properties.
