We salute the courage of our front line soldiers who have taken the fight with Coronavirus head-on . One such Nurse is Mrs. Sunanda from Belgaum who is along with other staff of nurses have not gone home since 15 days. Sunanda could not control her tears when she saw her child cry. Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa also wrote Sunanda Korepur a letter in appreciation of the dedication being Shown by her and other paramedics at the cost of their own lives

  • District Hospital, Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) was designated as COVID-19

hospital.

  • Our KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC was a non COVID Hospital.
  • Flu Clinic is fully functional 24X7 at KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC.
  • Thirty-six beds isolation ward is earmarked for the patients requiring admissions at a stage

when there is a need. In addition to this, six beds Intensive Care unit with ventilator support and round the clock intensivists, trained nurses will offer the best of the care to needy patients.

  • Very soon Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) to examine for

COVID-19 the virus will be initiated.

  • We are sharing the Labour case load from BIMS.
  • Nursing Manpower in Labour room was kept adequate in all shifts (10 nurses per shift) and some
  • f the nurses were accommodated in our hostel as transport was difficult.
  • Adequate supply of PPE & N-95 mask was kept ready
  • All our OPD’s were fully functional.
  • Dialysis work load of BIMS was completely taken over by KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital &

MRC.

  • All our MOs, Staff Nurses and ANM’s working in Primary Health Centres, Urban Health Centres are

constantly working in community and conducting door to door survey in history collection and tracing of primary and secondary contacts in containment zones.

students.

  • Final Proposal of Post-Partum Depression Pilot Study has been submitted to Sigma Nursing

Research Grants – Sigma Theta Tau (STT Grants) amounting to 9845 USD.

  • Faculty & students have undergone online training on COVID-19 organized by INC, WHO, RGUHS,

UNICEF, NSS
