Community Initiatives

 A Business Case has been submitted seeking

additional resources to establish a dedicated Community Policing Unit in Killarney and

• Listowel. It is also hoped to increase the

numbers in the existing unit in Tralee.

 The Kerry Division are endeavouring to

increase the number of Text Alert, Community Alert and Neighbourhood Watch Groups at present.

National Property Recovered Day 22nd September 2016 - Review

 Took place at Castleisland Garda station – 22/9/16  The Crime Prevention Officer, Garda Victims Officer

Personnel, PEMS Officer and members of the Community Policing Unit attended.

 The basic concept behind this initiative was to reunite/return

property to the public and it is envisaged further action days will be arranged.

 Members of the Public were made aware of the dedicated

day via social media and local media outlets. A key learning for AGS was the need to engage to a greater degree with social media and this has now been actioned.
