2 - SOIL PREPERATION

Drill seeder shall have seed across the whole seed bin before starting. Inspector must have the contractor lift the seeder and spin the chain driven wheel to make sure seed is falling down the drop tubes evenly. If the seed is not falling down evenly, it could indicate a plugged or dirty tube. Have the contractor remove the tubes and unplug them. The inspector shall witness the contractor place the drill seeder on a flat dirt area - drop the seeder and proceed forward for 30 feet to verify amount of seed per groove and check depth of seed with a ruler. The compost shall be incorporated into the 4" of seedbed. Activity The inspector shall inspect the drill seed bin periodically to ensure the seed is dropping evenly to prevent loss of seed.

3 - COMPOST APPLICATION 4 - DRILL SEED OPERATION NMDOT - Section 632 - Revegetation

INSPECTION CHECKLIST

Prepare seedbed by disking no more than 4" in depth and be free of rocks or dirt clumps greater than 4". The prime contractor is responsible for having the job site ready for the seeding operation, including areas that have been compacted during construction. Inspector shall probe the seedbed to verify the depth and approve the area disked before any compost is applied. One inch (1") of compost shall be spread ove rthe seedbed evenly. Inspector shall verify the depth of 1" of compost by probing before disking into seedbed.
