What is the Intelligent Cities Challenge?

What is the Intelligent Cities Challenge?
The ICC builds on the successful Digital Cities Challenge of 2017/2019, which saw 41 cities create a vision, strategy and roadmap for their digital transformation. The ICC is improved based on city feedback, aligned with the new EU priorities, focused on implementation of strategies, common platforms for open data, a marketplace for intelligent city solutions, joint investments, new support mechanisms and an entirely new international dimension. Cities will:
Learn rn: shape ambitious strategies and roadmap together with all stakeholders and international experts, but based on real city’s strengths and needs and the existing policy context.
Act a t and m maximize i impact: start with quick win emblematic projects in the first 6 months, followed by larger projects that result in a measurable improvement on city life.
Build a a lear arning an and innovat vation community: become part of an international self-sustaining network of innovation and collaboration working towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

Leveraging intelligent and advanced technologies to achieve long-term and self-sustaining benefits through ICC:
Quick win actions, e.g. a common platform for open data;
new EU marketplace ce, designed for cities, SMEs, and a wide range of urban businesses;
Joint investments to seek funding, including from EU financial instruments;

Ø You will be contacted bilaterally to gauge your interest in joining the ICC initiative Ø You are asked however to pr provide information regarding your city goals and pr priorities, through an IC ICC Questionnaire (EOI for DCC cities)

To sign up for the ICC: Ø Download the ICC questionnaire from www.intelligentcitieschallenge.eu/dccapplication Ø Complete the questionnaire Ø Upload and submit it through the dedicated application page (for DCC cities only)
Please note that a se separate ap applicat ation
syst stem ex exists fo for th the ne new IC ICC ci citi ties that did not take part in DCC. Applying cities will have to submit a dedicated ICC EOI. In addition to the DCC cities, we aim to select at least 50 cities in the European Union which will participate and benefit from the ICC. The 10 international cities will be selected through a different process.
