What is the Intelligent Cities Challenge?

The ICC builds on the successful Digital Cities Challenge of 2017/2019, which saw 41 cities create a vision, strategy and roadmap for their digital transformation. The ICC is improved based on city feedback, aligned with the new EU priorities, focused on implementation of strategies, common platforms for open data, a marketplace for intelligent city solutions, joint investments, new support mechanisms and an entirely new international dimension. Cities will:

A new EU learning and innovation community of 100 cities that will receive world- class support - in person, online, and as a community - through:

  • Expert advice tailored to your city and local priorities;
  • Regular ICC conferences, workshops and targeted training;
  • Access to digital tools & resources;
  • Mentors from the European and international-level.

To sign up for the ICC: Ø Download the ICC questionnaire from www.intelligentcitieschallenge.eu/dccapplication Ø Complete the questionnaire Ø Upload and submit it through the dedicated application page (for DCC cities only)

In addition to the DCC cities, we aim to select at least 50 cities in the European Union which will participate and benefit from the ICC. The 10 international cities will be selected through a different process.

  • Main factors that enabled the implementation of the strategy.
  • Main factors that hindered the implementation of the strategy.
  • 3. Participating in ICC

  • Statement of your city’s desire to be involved in ICC.
  • City goals in which your city would like to receive support under ICC.

  • Presentation of the proposed ICC local team (one representative from the

applicant organisation, and two advisors from the ecosystem).

Annexes

  • Annex I: Letter of support from mayor (mandatory).
  • Annex II: Resumé and description of skills of the local project manager and

the two advisors (include all three in one consolidated file – mandatory).
