BACKGROUND  2014: Government calls for new apprenticeships in non trade related industries  2015: The Insurance Institute submit and receive confirmation of 100 nationwide places for an apprenticeship in Insurance Practice commencing September 2016  Programme developed with IT Sligo in conjunction with The Insurance Institute  Industry approved and validated at level 8 BA (Hons) in Insurance Practice

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW  Three year part time blended learning programme incorporating distance and team delivery methods  Blends Insurance examinations (APA & CIP qualifications) with business and personal skills leading to level 8 BA (Hons) in Insurance Practice  Involves work based case studies  Office based with ‘day release’ for live streamed lectures

DELIVERY METHOD Three and a half Days per week One Day per week Working in the team on-the-job Academic Learning via IT Sligo/III involving 3 streamed lectures 2.5 hours each in a quiet area in the office with access to a PC/Laptop One half Day per week Complete Case 5 studies for PDI-01 over the 15 week semester Complete weekly Diary entry Become Familiar with Work Practice Tasks

What will it deliver? • The programme will provide students with a solid understanding of insurance business theory and practice. • The academic course is a comprehensive work-based training programme, which puts into practice the academic learnings in the business modules using insurance related examples. • It also provides the knowledge and skills that will prepare students for the challenges posed by the dynamic nature of the modern insurance environment.
