Research Questions

Which identity is attached to cyclists in Mexico City? To what extent the perceived image of cycling/cyclists influence individual’s choice to or not to cycle? Is there a socio- economic status attached to cycling/ cyclists?

Case Study: Mexico City

• 8.8 million people 2010 (INEGI, 2015).
• Divided into 16 boroughs
• Commuting in peak hour can take almost

3 hours (return) (ITDP-CDHDF, 2012)

• Cycling count for 2% of total trips
