The Capability Approach and Children

  • Biggeri, Libanora, Mariani and Menchini (2006 p60)

affirm “a child as a subject, having identifiable capabilities and should be considered not just as passive recipients of freedom but rather as active participants in the process of identifying a set of core capabilities” and further “The capability approach per se is a powerful tool for understanding a child’s well being since we are forced to think about the complexities that characterize a child’s life.” (p77)
