Capacity Development of Panchayati Raj A protocol for successful decentralisation is being developed based on the approach and methodology of Activity Mapping. eGov: Developing a Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) for eGovernance which functions as a binding standard for the entire National eGov Plan. Promoting and financing small and medium sized enterprises: Business, development, services will be availed by 10 SME clusters in four regions to demonstrate the value of market-oriented supply and demand for BDS in SMEs. Hazardous Waste Management:

Developed and Implemented a Hazardous Waste Management System and cutting-edge garbage dump in Karnataka as a pilot project for new projects in: Goa, Kerala and Uttaranchal. Eco Industrial Parks in Andhra Pradesh at Nacharam and Mallpur as pilot for growing number Eco Industrial Cells and Parks.

Introduction of Social Standards in Manufacturing and Supply Companies:

  • GTZ collaborated with Faber-Castell AG and IG Metall, the German metalworkers’ union, to

introduce a “social charter” based on standards developed by the ILO for all Faber-Castell’s Indian suppliers.

Rural Electrification and Energy Services through Biomass:

  • Working with three firms, EnviTec Biogas GmbH, Malavalli Power Plant Pvt. Ldt. and

Grameena Abhivrudhi Mandali, GTZ is developing a unique and sustainable model of rural electrification on the basis of large-scale biomass power generation and modular designed biomass power plants in Karnataka. The Government of India has mandated that this be replicated in 100 additional projects throughout India.

In Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), companies profit from GTZ’s contacts, experience and global network of

  • experts. At the same time, private sector involvement helps

to achieve development objectives in a sustainable manner by creating jobs and introducing technological innovation while sharing contributions and risks.
