Further Discussion

  • Acknowledgement of cities and subnational under the UNFCCC has

been enhanced for the last 3 years.

  • The launching of Lima Paris Action Agenda (LPAA) and

establishment of Non-state Actor Zone for Climate Action (NAZCA) could be an effective platform to link the city’s actions with the existing UNFCCC process and mechanisms such as Technical Examination Process (TEP), Technology Mechanism (Climate Technology Centre Network) and Financial Mechanism (Green Climate Fund).

  • Further work will be required in terms of:

ü Tracking and quantifying of city’s actions ü Clarifying the process and benefits to which cities can engage in the UNFCCC process and mechanisms ü Matching various financial and technical resources to advance the actions.
