Mycology from the Cloud MSA 2020 Annual Meeting Poster Submission and Presentation Guidelines Call for Posters The 2020 “Mycology from the Cloud” virtual meeting poster session will take place on July 22, 2020. However, registered attendees will be able to visit the session and view the posters starting on Thursday, July 16, 2020. This document will guide submitters through the process of submitting your abstract and poster through our on ‐ line portal. Please note that poster submissions are limited to members only. If you are a non ‐ member and would like to submit a poster, please join MSA. Abstracts may be submitted from May 11, 2020 through July 10, 2020. You do not have to upload your final poster when you submit your abstract, but all posters must be uploaded by July 10. Submitting an Abstract Abstracts must be submitted through our on ‐ line portal. The link to this portal is: https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/stages/1710/submitter You will be prompted to login to the Oxford Abstracts submission portal. You can login using your Google account, your LinkedIn account or you can create an account using your email address.

  2. If this is the first time you are logging in, and you wish to create an account, enter the email address that you wish to use. Please note that this email address is the one to which all communications regarding your submission will be sent. You will see a message stating that the email address was not found and asking if you wish to register. Click on this link to create your account. You will be asked to confirm the email address, for your title, first name, and last name. You will also be asked to create a password and to confirm that password. When you have entered the required information, click on the “REGISTER” button to proceed to the poster submission page.

  3. From here, you can enter the information for your abstract in the form provided. Please make sure that you fill out all of the information requested, including author information and the primary and secondary category that best suits your presentation. At the bottom, you will see options to upload your poster, as well as an audio file in MP3 or MP4 format that provides a brief spoken synopsis of your poster. You do not have to upload the poster or audio file now. These can be uploaded any time prior to July 10, 2020. Once you have completed entering the information, click “SUBMIT” to save your submission. Please note that you can come back any time prior to the deadline to update your abstract submission or to upload your final poster and audio file. To update or edit your submission, you can use this link: https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/dashboard/events/1478 When you log in, you will see your submission listed. To edit your submission, click on the pencil icon next to your submission. You may also enter a second submission by clicking on the “New Submission” button.   4. Poster Guidelines Posters can be uploaded at the same time as your abstract submission, or any time prior to the deadline of July 10, 2020. Posters must be in PDF format (Adobe Acrobat), and should be formatted in “Portrait” orientation. Posters can be multiple pages, and use of graphics is encouraged. Poster presenters are encouraged to submit a graphical abstract rather than a traditional poster. A graphical abstract provides readers with a short, clear summary of your work using graphics rather than text to tell a story. Increasing numbers of journals require a graphical abstract with manuscript submission. Much shorter and simpler than a traditional poster, a graphical abstract can effectively showcase your work on a webpage, as a figure in a thesis or a paper. Guidelines:  Include your name, coauthor names, department, university, title  Provide biological context. Show the organism if appropriate.  Show question or predictions  Show approach  Main result or conclusion Style:  Keep it simple.  All elements must be legible on a computer screen.  Formats: for MSA 2020, PDF  Font: Arial or Helvetica, 12 ‐ 16 points  Use labels only when necessary.  Keep text to a minimum. Use images rather than text to tell the story.  Arrange story from left to right or top to bottom.” Submitters can also upload an audio file of no more than 3 minutes to describe their research. Audio uploads can be in MP3 or MP4 format. An email address or other contact information where the submitter can be reached with any questions should be listed on the poster. Poster Session As this is a virtual poster session, posters will be available for viewing by registered members starting on July 16, 2020. There will be a virtual poster session on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at

  5. 3:30 PM Eastern Time. There will also be a focused poster session where award winners will have the opportunity to present their poster “live” and answer questions about their research.
