Reading independently is our biggest goal in First Grade. We will spend the majority of our day practicing our words, blending and building new words, spelling words, and reading sentences / passages! I try to encourage a love for reading! I strive to differentiate reading instruction based on the student’s ability level-challenge those who need a challenge / offer support to those who need extra support. Encourage independent reading at home as well!

In our classroom community, we strive for a successful classroom community that fosters a sense of belonging and promotes positive social skills and academic achievement. Students are encouraged to participate in class, work collaboratively as a group, cheer each other on, celebrate our successes, and resolve conflicts peacefully with guidance from the teachers..
