Our r fir irst t Hyd ydro ro Pro roject ect

  • TRT as developers

– A two decade old idea – Had several ‘almost’ proponents – TRT took charge, we had no money but had a strong idea and belief, and we developed relationships – We knew we needed to build for Atlin, and plan to expand later

slide-8
SLIDE 8

Relatio ationships nships

  • TRT formed new relationships with BC

Hydro to complete a Community Energy Plan (CEP), with BC & Canada

  • With our partners we were able to

develop capacity and carry out ever increasingly complex prjcts successfully

  • These successes reinforced our belief

and commitment to own 100% of our project

  • The expansion will be significantly

bigger and we will likely be looking for partners as we move forward

slide-9
SLIDE 9

Ow Ownersh ership ip

  • In the first project TRT invested the

money it had, a buck or two

  • TRT formed a company to carry out

the project and then the Taku River Tlingit Government stepped back and let its corporate people go to work

  • Xeitl Limited Partnership built the

first project

  • Tlingit Homeland Energy Limited is

the proponent in the expansion

slide-10
SLIDE 10

Res espon ponsib sibili ilities ties

  • TRTFN never allowed XLP one

moment of relief from their responsibilities to the environment, to the Tlingit people, and to TRT

  • XLP had to pay all costs TRT

incurred as a result of the XLP development in TRT territory

  • This will hold true for THEL and the

expansion project as well

slide-11

The Expansion Project

  • Approximate 5MW ‘modified’ run of river
  • 32 sq km lake (Surprise Lake) is main source
  • Surprise Lake natural annual rise is 1 meter
  • Twin existing 4 km 48” HDPE and steel

penstock

  • Twin exisitng 2 pelton turbines but will be

slightly larger output 3-4MW

  • Downstream 2MW installation
  • 100 km power line to connect to Yukon grid
  • Will diminish Yukon GHG emissions by 14,000

tonnes annually for the life of the project
