UNIVERSITY OF HAVANA (UH)  Was founded in 1728.  Has 18 Faculties and 14 research centers.  Is member of more than 50 international organizations and 59 academic and scientific networks.  Teacher and Researchs: 1520  Students: 15 000 (Bachelor) / 25 000 (Postgraduate) - 2 600 ( New graduates, July 2016) .

ACADEMIC EXCHANGE CUBA - UNITED STATES UNIVERSITY OF HAVANA (UH) § Pioneer institution in the development of academic exchanges between Cuba and the U.S. § Has signed 49 MoU with American universities. § Keeps a wide international collaboration based on 444 academic agreements, signed with prestigious institutions from more than 70 countries.

MAIN EXPERIENCES § As result of the success of the courses and acquired experiences, American Institutions proposed to create Semester Programs that give credits to the students degrees. § First Semester Program was in September 2000. § The Semester Programs gradually increased to 8 groups from 2000 to 2004. § Now there are 19 Semester Programs.

TODAY’S GOALS § Work together to restore and enhance the cooperation and collaboration between Cuba and US academic communities. § The academic exchange between Cuba-US contributes to a better understanding and offers a different perspective to students and professors. § Increase the US people understanding of Cuban economic, social, cultural and political life. § Offer new options.

  26. VISION STRATEGY / CUBAN POPULATION STRUCTURE La figura muestran la estructura de la población Cubana y el volumen y la estructura de la población mayor de 60 anos en el año 2030. El nivel actual de la mortalidad en Cuba es bajo. La esperanza de vida al nacer en el 2005- 2010 era de 77,97 años, ligeramente superior en mujeres (80,02) que en hombres (76). El nivel de envejecimiento de la población cubana, es hoy de 18,3% y, según las proyecciones, pudiera llegar al 31% de sus efectivos con 60 y más años en 2030 estimado en 3,3 millones . ALGUNOS ESTUDIOS REPORTAN QUE UNA DE CADA DOS MUJERES Y UNO DE CADA CINCO HOMBRES MAYORES DE 65 AÑOS SUFRIRÁ ALGÚN TIPO DE FRACTURA. DEMANDA: BIOMATERIALES PARA LA SUSTITUCIÓN, REPARACIÓN Y REGENERACIÓN DE TEJIDOS OSEO Y DENTAL.
