Recycling Infrastructure Grants

PURPOSE: Potential infrastructure projects include, but are not limited to, rolling carts for recycling or organics, public space recycling containers, creation or improvement of public drop-off recycling, collection trucks, balers, school recycling projects, improvement of existing infrastructure, multi-family recycling projects, food waste projects, and electronic waste projects. ELIGIBILITY: Funding is available for cities, villages, townships, charter townships, counties, tribal governments, municipal solid waste authorities, resource recovery authorities, non- profit organizations, public school districts, local health departments, colleges/ universities, and regional planning agencies located in M ichigan. See Request for Proposal for priority selection criteria. AM OUNT: Awards up to $1 million per entity, 25% match requirement. TIM ELINE: Applications due M ay 1, 2019. Recycling M arket Development Grants

PURPOSE: M arket development projects include, but are not limited to, materials testing and specification development, research and development of new products using recycled content, processing equipment or infrastructure needs, market analyses, marketing of products, usage guidance, use trials/ pilots, and other activities that will result in increased use of recycled materials. ELIGIBILITY: This grant will provide funding to for-profit and non-profit entities to increase the use of recycled materials in new products and uses in M ichigan. AM OUNT: Grants up to $500,000. 25% match requirement. Priority will be given to projects that address glass, mixed plastics, and organic materials like food waste, however all material projects are encouraged to apply. Projects that develop a circular process where materials are returned to a manufacturer’s supply chain are also encouraged. TIM ELINE: Deadline for submittal is J une 6, 2019.
