Eloise, Manager Lasting Touch Therapies
Eloise joined Lasting Touch Therapies when she was 16 to gain valuable work experience. At that time the salon offered holistic therapies, but once Elouise had completed her courses, including studying skincare to a more advanced level, the salon gave Eloise her own specialist skincare room. “I feel very lucky to have been made assistant manager at 19 years of age and five years later I am now the manager. I really wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of my tutors at the College. With my own room at the salon I now get to carry out the in-depth skincare work that I love, such as removing skin tags and thread veins and more.”

If you are between 16 and 18 years old it is a requirement that you undertake a Work Experience Placement while you are on your course. This involves working at a local business which is in the same industry as your course, i.e. if you are taking a hair dressing qualification you may work at a local hair salon. The minimum amount of time you would spend on work experience is one week but this will vary depending on your course. This will add immense value to your studies, giving you a much more rounded experience of the subject and providing you with an advantage when you look to enter the workplace. Industry placement is available for those learners who wish to study full time as well completing a minimum of 45 days/315 hours in the workplace. This will allow learners to embed themselves within the business and play a valuable role within the organisation.
