Brief Health Checks

Confidential service for individual workers to understand their risk of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease:  Free, confidential and voluntary  Takes only 15 minutes  Provides immediate feedback and advice  The only measurement is of the waist  Referral to lifestyle coaching programs and other health services

Brief Health Check Summary Report:  If more than 50 workers complete the Brief Health Check  Provides businesses and/or sites with a snapshot on the health of the workforce E.g. % high risk of developing diabetes % current smokers  De-identified data and results remain anonymous

Service providers

 18 accredited service providers  State-wide, multi-region and single region providers  Competitive tendering process  Providers are auto-allocated by the system OR businesses can enter a unique code to request a particular provider  Delivery of both service components (workplace health program and Brief Health Checks)

Get Healthy Points

 All organisations have an opportunity to earn Get Healthy points (public sector organisations are exempt)  Kick-starts Workplace Health Program implementation (step 4)  Available for a limited time  Points can be used to purchase goods and services to improve the health of workers  For example: –Tools to promote physical activity/walking such as pedometers –Access to an expert to develop and implement smoke-free policy

 Visit the Get Healthy at Work website  Need to know: Business ABN to register Number of workers employed Number of worksites operated  Nominate Workplace Health Champions  Read the ‘First time new user guide’ (available online)  Select the preferred delivery option  Complete the online training tutorials  Access Get the ball rolling tools and resources  Create the first Workplace Health Program

Monitoring and program evaluation

 Since August 2013, a series of pilots have been delivered in 16 businesses from the manufacturing and transport industries  Enabled the service delivery model to be tested and refined  Get Healthy at Work officially launched on 30 June 2014  Summative Evaluation supported by The Australian Prevention Partnership Centre (TAPPC), University of Sydney will commence in February 2015
