  2. Project Objectives • Strengthening capacities of countries to participate in Codex standards setting as well as to adopt and implement international food safety standards. • Protecting consumers and promoting the production and trade of safe and quality foods.

  3. Beneficiaries and Benefits Immediate beneficiaries • ASEAN country governments - strengthening participation in Codex, and understanding and implementing international standards • Trade is increased and flow of agricultural commodity across the border is smoothened Final beneficiaries • Consumers - availability of good quality and safe products

Outcomes and Outputs 1: Increased contribution of ASEAN Countries in Codex Activities  Strengthened capacity for standard setting  Strengthened National Codex structure 2: Refined Implementation of Codex standards in ASEAN countries  Strengthened Codex implementation at various stages of food chain  Developed guidance documents, case studies, training modules & other materials/ websites (as needed) 3: Improving ability for quality assurance of data  Strengthened capacity of data collecting & assurance  Developed guidelines for data collecting & assurance

Activities • 5 Regional Workshops (including Inception workshop) • 5 Regional Training courses • 3 National Training courses • Case studies, Study tours, Developments of guidance documents, web sites (as needed) etc Subjects, agenda or topics of each activity will be identified through questionnaire, needs assessment visits, Inception workshop & other opportunities.
