○ SFSP can only be utilized for Emergency Feed Programs

  • Nation-Wide USDA Waivers. These flexibilities allow for:

Cafeteria Delivery/Classroom Eating Classroom Delivery/Classroom Eating Description:

  • Students are released from classes at

staggered time.

  • They would walk to the cafeteria/meal service

area.

  • Students would go through our usual Skyward

POS system to track meals and eligibility

  • Students would select a pre-bagged meal or

would choose pre-portioned items to put in a bag.

  • Students would then walk back to their

classroom to eat.

  • Trash would be collected in common hallways

and central locations. Description:

  • Students would stay in their classrooms
  • A system would need to be developed to

determine the NAMES of students BY CLASS that will need lunch each day.

  • Kitchen staff would pre-bag a cold lunch and

would stage meals by class.

  • A roster/POS tracking sheet would need to be

created for each class daily.

  • Meals would need to be picked up or delivered

to each class along with the roster, while maintaining temperature control.

  • A trained adult would hand meals to students

and track on the POS document. The document would need to be returned to the kitchen staff for them to enter into Skyward.

  • Students would eat in their classroom.
  • Trash would be collected in common hallways

and central locations

Cafeteria Delivery/Classroom Eating Classroom Delivery/Classroom Eating Pros:

  • No Extra equipment needs
  • We could implement OVS = Less waste

(students could select 3 of the 5 components)

  • More menu options – Hot food could be served
  • Fewer staff needed to implement
  • POS stays intact – Most accurate option

Cons:

  • Students would need to leave classroom
  • May need additional barriers at POS/Service

areas

  • Principals would need to create staggered

schedules Pros:

  • Student could stay in their classroom
  • Fewer students in common areas

Cons:

  • Would need transport equipment (carts, etc. for

temp control)

  • Hot food would not be an option w/ more hot

holding equipment

  • Would need to operate “serve-only” = less

student choice (students would have to be given all 5 components. = more waste.

  • Complex POS system and duplicate data entry
  • Staffing concerns? Who would deliver and do

POS tracking?
