  2. Why? Our 5th grade classrooms are reading Wonder which gave us the inspiration to start this service project. Choosing kind is very important. Therefore we are doing this food drive with all of our kindness.

  3. Please donate to put food on the table for those in need.

  4. Where? The food will be donated by each grade level at Oak Ridge. Once the food is donated it will be delivered to the Palos food pantry on 107th and Roberts Road.

  5. When? We start the food drive on November 2nd. The deadline to deliver the food to the food pantry is November 16th.

  6. I mportant i nfo Step 1. There will be a milk crate outside of every class. Step 2. You will put the items in the crate outside the classroom. Step 3. The items will be collected by fifth graders each day. Step 4. The items that your class brought will be tallied.

  7. I mportant i nfo Step 5. The teachers and classrooms daily donations will be tallied. Step 6. The classroom that has the most tallies by Nov. 16th will win a prize.

  8. Rewards!!! The reward goes to the class of each grade level that has the most tallies or donated the most food. This years top classes will be awarded with a hot 1st Place chocolate party. The grade level that donates the most will be given an extra recess.

  9. Philanthropic- Act of contrition, giving goods or money to those people of need. Thank you for the spam!! Oak Ridge is doing something philanthropic by doing the food drive to help the needy.

  10. Things That Can be Donated Anything that is canned or boxed can be donated. When donating please check the expiration date so you don’t bring in any expired goods. Popular foods donated ● Meals in a can (soup, stew, chili) ● Tuna or canned chicken. ● Peanut butter. ● Canned foods with pop-top lids. ● Canned fruit in its own juice or water. ● Low-sodium canned vegetables. ● Olive or canola oil. ● Spices.
