Addressing Parent Requests and Enrollment Growth…
Building three new middle schools will take 6th grade students
- ut of the elementary schools leaving room for approximately
2,600 students at the elementary level. Thus, there will be no need to build new elementary schools. Building the new middle schools will also take 7th grade students
- ut of the junior high schools leaving room for approximately
2,500 students at the junior high schools. Thus, there will be no need to build new junior high schools. Once the new middle schools are created, we will be able to implement a straight alignment system. The following page explains how that will work…
Current Proposed
Why Rebuild our High Schools?
Current buildings will be approximately 60 years old and are in constant need of costly repair.
New buildings reduce the need for portables while preparing for future growth. New high schools are adaptable and ready for technology-based learning. New buildings have increased security measures and modern security systems. New high schools are up to current seismic standards reducing risk to students and staff.

If the amount of taxes you pay increases, it will happen because the County Assessor or another taxing entity has increased the value of your home - not Nebo School District.
There will be No Increase in your Property Tax Rate
How will this bond affect my property taxes?
How can Nebo bond for $298 million with No Tax Rate Increase?
- 1. With growth, more taxpayers share the
responsibility for payment (additional assessed valuation).
- 2. Existing bonds have been deliberately
structured to allow new bonds to be issued without a tax rate increase.
- 3. The $298 million will be borrowed in
smaller amounts over a number of years until the building projects are complete.

Understanding
the
Bond Ballot
Bond Ballot
- Some people feel that if taxes could go
down and don’t, then it should be considered a tax increase.
- Nebo School District’s new debt
- bligation will not require a tax rate
increase for the bond. However, the number of years of the debt obligation will be lengthened.
- In summary, this means that for the
same tax effort taxpayers are currently paying, the District could pay off the old and new bonds while providing for the needs and growth of the District.
Why does one part of the ballot say “a property tax sufficient to pay debt service will be required”, and another part says there is “no (0.0) property tax rate increase”?
Bond Information
- Significant tax decreases
could not be realized until existing bonds are paid off in 2032.
- Nebo cannot
accommodate student growth until the year 2032 without bonding.
- Bond money can only be
used for construction. It cannot be used for salaries or benefits.
What are
- ther facts
regarding the bond that I should know?
In Summary..
The Bond Ballot language is complicated and difficult to understand. You, as a voter, will need to decide what you believe…
