Proposed Project Overview  Expand FM 1516 from two-lanes to four-lanes with left turn lanes and raised medians.  Add dedicated bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of FM 1516.  Drainage improvements – drainage ditches and underground storm water system.  Project would require an additional 15.2 acres of right of way, with utility adjustments and one commercial displacement. Why is the proposed project needed? • Reduce congestion, which would in turn improve travel time along FM 1516 • Improve safety conditions along the corridor by upgrading intersections • Improve pedestrian and bicycle accommodations.   8. Pedestrian and Vehicle Crash Data • The vehicular crash rate in the project area is identified to be higher than the state average. • From 2011-2015, there were 81 injury related crashes.
