New Recruits

New Recruit Pre-employment requirements

  • Written Test. Administered by the City of Paducah
  • Valid C-PAT Card
  • Physical performed by the City of Paducah’s health care provider.
  • Psychological test performed by the City of Paducah’s provided healthcare professional.
  • Background check.

New Recruit Training Requirements

  • 332 Hours of specific training hours that are divided into 25 categories.
  • 68 Hours that are considered elective hours.
  • 16 hours in firefighter Survival and Rescue.
  • 4 Hours in wild land firefighting
  • 40 Hour Hazmat Technician Course
  • 8 hour Flashover simulator training
  • A Minimum of 16 hours of smoke maze training.
  • 32 Hour Car seat Course
  • EMT class which lasts one semester. This is done at night 2 nights a week.
  • 32 Hour Trench rescue technician course.
  • Complete the IFSAC FF1 testing program.
  • Complete the IFSAC FF2 testing program.
