Ch Charit ity Don Donati tion Ba Bank Be Benefits
Donation Banks provide a reliable income stream for Charities thus generating an ongoing revenue for many businesses. Clothing and Recycling Banks also help to reduce landfill waste; textiles currently account for approximately 3% of all household waste and it is further estimated that landfill receives 1 million tonnes of textiles annually. By using Textile & Recycling Banks you can achieve a higher brand presence, increase item donations and revenue stream and help towards the reduction of textiles and other recyclables going to landfill. www.fairportcontainers.co.uk

- Unauthorised Banks
www.fairportcontainers.co.uk Banks that are placed by other companies, without the sites
- permission. In this case Tesco, placed
a Clothing Bank Removal Notice on a unauthorised bank. The notice was removed and placed on the Scope Clothing Bank. Our driver, realised the situation and removed the unauthorised Bank, rather than the Scope Bank. Fairport Containers will remove any unauthorised banks following the notice period. Fairport Containers will also store rogue banks for short periods and dispose of the bank.

- Security
This is in reference to the breaking in of banks. Including cutting off locks or cutting the back of the bank
- pen.
When reported, Fairport can remove and repair the locks or bank. Further security measures can be added such as a recess or cover box.

- Fishing
This term refers to donated clothing being removed via the chute. This can be overcome by replacing old chutes with a High Roll Security Chute.
Ca Case Stu tudy 1
The new chute design ensures that when pulled down no gap appears at the back of the chute. Where a hook or wire can be inserted to drag the donated items out. Therefore significantly reducing the issue.

Image A shows a open barrel chute and the area exposed above the
- chute. This clearly demonstrates
the amount of room to easily remove donated items.

Image B displays a open high roll security chute. When the chute is open there is minimal open area exposed. Therefore minimising the efficiency
- f fishing donated items.

- Vandalism and Damage
Ca Case Stu tudy 2
www.fairportcontainers.co.uk Customers report damaged banks to Fairport. Banks are usually damaged by fire or graffiti. Fairport are able to remove the damaged banks, refurbish and restore back to original standard. Where damage is minimal. Fairport are able to offer spray paints for the customer to use
- nsite.
SLIDE 24

- Fishing
As with the previous case study donated items are stolen via the chute. This image displays the high roll security chute, which does not roll down completely. Not leaving a gap at the back. And preventing fishing of donated items.

- Storage Bank Security
There has been an instance where the storage bank has been broken into. It is not clear how the Bank was broken into. However, it is thought that the lock was picked.

- Clothing & Book Bank Security
Ca Case Stu tudy 2
Banks broken into;
- 1. Cutting locks off
- 2. Compromising the locks
- 3. Cutting into the bank
SLIDE 27
www.fairportcontainers.co.uk Rather than having a lock on display, use either a Cover Box or Recess
- Lock. These make it more difficult for someone to cut the lock off.
Compromised locks are difficult to deter. Fairport can replace the lock with a four or five digit combination lock, which are hard to pick. Fairport is currently trialling Angle Irons. These are lengths of steel Angle Irons welded on the inside of the Bank, from floor to roof on the two sides and the back. When someone tries to cut into the bank with a hand grinder, this action is made more difficult due to the presence and resistance posed by the angle iron.
