At the age of twenty she left home, a massacre committed by ISIS on the Kurds in Kobane triggered a difficult decision; it was time to escape.

REASONS FOR HER JOURNEY

The people who lived in Kobane lost their homes, were exploited, lost their families and it was a great massacre that caused ISIS to leave there.

THE JOURNEY

FIRST JOURNEY: Syria to Turkey, 300 smuggler’s fee SECOND JOURNEY: Turkey to Greece, 52 people, plus kids, in a boat for 15, the people was leaving because the previous day heard they’ll start deporting people to

Turkey. Those of the border began to throw bombs of gas so that they did not cross
it. It was very difficult for her to go through all that.

THIRD JOURNEY(BULGARIA): In May 2016, Rania and her friend borrowed 7.000 euros and were told to board a flight using fake Bulgarian ID’s. FOURTH JOURNEY(AUSTRIA): Rania was arrested by the police.

HOW THE FILMING OF HER SCAPE HAPPENED?

In 2015, Rania met Ander in Kobane completely by chance and she told him that she wanted to make a first person film of her escape. Anders taught Rania the basic of

filmmaking. While crossing borders weather by land or sea, she recorded the

hazardous and often terrifying obstacles she faced along the way.

HER ESCAPE

She was terrified to think what might happen. She had a really bad time when she was in Greece but she never stopped being strong. She missed her family. When the bombs exploded, she was very frightened, so she went to Bulgaria to catch a flight to Vienna. The reason she recorded her experience is because she wanted to show the world what refugees were going through.

CONCLUSIONS

After seeing all the route Rania has gone through to simply have a normal life isn’t fair, we all deserve a dignified life without going through difficulties because all humans have the right to have a home without being afraid of being destroyed. Moreover, those videos have taught us that the people who manage everything in their own countries don’t mind much about

refugees. All it’s for the media.

The video is quite impressive and we could see the reality that all the countries that suffer wars are experiencing and the media do ‘not’ teach us.
