The general first idea was to have a playful
ghost flying around a building for their own enjoyment.
The story of the ghost then became more
prominent as I developed my storyboards. The ghost was looking for a place to haunt and found this old worn out castle, as he began playing, while turning into shapes of rockets and umbrellas and such.
I wanted to get good a feel to the area as well as make planned shots.
A few rough storyboards describing the story of the ghost.
3D modelled inside area of a castle. The glowing ghost by using a ball and cloth in
3Ds Max.
Photographs of the castle as far shot to
introduce to the piece.
Special effects like fire for the rocket ship and
wind blowing.
Sound effects like wind, blasts, moans similar
to ghosts.
Camera. (I used my
phone camera as I believe the quality is suffice.)
Chrome ball for
lighting information.
Tutorials relating to
the cloth modifier and 3D ghosts.
A little bit more
inspiration to make the character unique.
Help from websites
like freesound.org for sound effects.
DONE: TO DO:
Shots. Sketches. Equipment. Trial and error with
animating the ghost model.
3D model of castle plan. Implanting green screen
special effects.
Applying sound effects
in through Premier Pro.

If I cannot make my character unique or be able to form the shapes I wish for the 3D animation it would be a disaster. - However, I’d try counter it by looking outside the box a bit more and research if there is anything other than a cloth modifier, that would work. Or contemplate animating the character 2D on Photoshop, while giving it a detailed look.
My photos from the castle would not up to scratch, and would make my work look shabby. - I would attempt to bluff it and look at how digital painting helps with Matte Painting to improve the quality of it.
