HERE TO SUPPORT YOU

  • As you all know, the north pool has served this community well for the last 30 years.

For those of you who have frequented the pool over the past few years, you know that it is reaching the point where it needs a little TLC.

  • Over the past 5 years or so, we have invested several thousand dollars in repairs, and

those investments are only increasing each year. We recognize the need for some major renovations and are assessing that against the cost of complete replacement.

  • City Council is currently considering the repair or replacement of the North Pool and

this public input process will help to inform them as to what the public feels are

  • priorities. As the priorities are understood, then relating costs can be estimated and

understood.

  • Important Note: Construction schedule is still unknown – today’s focus is to

understand your priorities on amenities. As many of your know, capital project prioritization changes with each year’s edition of the City’s 5 year Capital Improvements Budget.

WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE TONIGHT?

slide-5
SLIDE 5
  • Another goal is to use the understanding of priorities to create a North Pool Master

Plan to provide direction for short term and long term project phasing so we have the ability to phase the priorities as the needs and funding sources are fully identified

  • The City’s primary mission remains meeting the recreational swimming needs of the

general public.

  • City Council has asked us to look into the possibility of an indoor/outdoor, year round

facility that will serve multiple programs: swim teams, high schools, lap swimming and possibly local and regional swim meets thereby providing some relief to the DCRC pool demands.

  • We haven’t fully evaluated the feasibility and impact of such a facility, but are starting

that evaluation process with the public input process.

WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE TONIGHT?

slide-6
SLIDE 6
  • Funding within the 2018-2022 CIP only includes the renovation of the outdoor pool

and does not include funding for a year round facility.

  • As we finish up this evening, it’s important to note that there will be a continued effort

to seek input and the surveys, social media and information channels will remain open as we continue this process. The results will help to inform Council as they evaluate

  • ptions.

WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE TONIGHT?

We want your feedback! Public Input Sessions: September 13 & October 3 We will compile the input and develop some visuals related to the amenities that have been identified as public priorities. We will post updates on the process as they become available on the website. Any additional meetings will be announced like these meetings were and public input portals like our online survey, website and social media platforms will remain open to receive your feedback throughout this process.
