Final Image Processing

Target Dates for DAT:

• Area 1: Late Oct

Pilot Review Committee Results

• Area 1, 1a, 2, 4, and 4a were reviewed in person by a

committee on July 7th. Area 3 was reviewed in mid-August by interested partners on their own and comments were sent via email.

• Regarding the color, balance, contrast, level of snow, and

sharpness: reviewers felt that the imagery was acceptable and approved Sanborn to continue with final image processing.

• The committee highlighted the importance of:
• Not losing detail in the shadows, including in areas with steep

terrain

• Minimizing haze
• Minimizing radiometric differences between flight lines, including

areas that were captured on different dates

• Minimizing building lean

Order Updates

• Clarifications on SIDs:
• Large orders (e.g. the entire project area) to be delivered in

the same tile grid as in 2014

• Small orders (e.g. just your city limits) to be delivered as

seamless mosaics

• A few exceptions…

• Watch your email for order confirmations from Sanborn. You

will be asked to review and confirm:

Planimetric Update Project – Progress!

• What: updating the 2014 planimetric datasets using the

2016 imagery

• When: Q1 & Q2 of 2017; pick a vendor this fall
• Who: 25 potential partners, looking for more!
• Why: To leverage the data we’ve already captured, keep

data current and useful (remember: updates are MUCH cheaper than new collections from scratch)

Discussion Questions

• How do we feel about extending the flight window for

future projects?

• Currently March 1 – April 15 for metro & plains, June for

moutains

• Consider October 1 – April 15 to maximize time in leaf-off

conditions

• Consider July/August for mountains to ensure snow free
• How do we feel about collecting some areas every other

project (rural eastern plains)?
