The Norwood Public School District is dedicated to educational excellence. In partnership with the family, staff and community, our mission is to meet the educational needs of each child by providing the programs and environment necessary to: Enable every child to reach full potential; promote self-esteem, respect, responsibility and appreciation of diversity; develop knowledge, skills and academic achievement; consistent with the New Jersey State Student Learning Standards; prepare each child for continued education and responsible citizenship; instill a lifelong passion for learning.

District Goal #2: Continue to strengthen safety & security within the Norwood School building

  • School Safety Committee

○ Met quarterly with various stakeholders to discuss topics concerning the safety and security of the students and facility

  • Share 911 & Lockdown Emergency Notification System (LENS)

○ Increased the school’s ability to informed and to provide response in the event of a threat

  • Substitute Handbook

○ Updated to include security protocols and procedures

  • Proposed security upgrade to Main Office

○ Comprehensive review of areas of concern within the school’s existing layout

Goal #3: To increase student achievement by individualizing instruction based on student data

MAPS and Link it Assessments

  • Formative data collected on students, led to targeted instruction and

interventions for LA and Math. As of Feb. 2019, 94% of the students are either approaching, meeting or exceeding the NJSLS expectations. 89% of students in K-5 are Reading level on or above grade level. A review of all support and current intervention programs is being completed to determine their effectiveness Development of CRT for Math
