Delivery Workflow

  • A Treatment Planning System (TPS) generates a "treatment plan"

by creating one or more RT Radiation Sets, referencing one or more RT Radiations (see Supplement 175).

  • These instances are sent to the Treatment Management System

(TMS).

  • The TMS instructs the treatment device to deliver all or a subset of

these instances

  • The instruction is realized using a UPS containing a RT Radiation

Set Delivery Instruction as input information

Delivery Instruction

The RT Radiation Set Delivery Instruction contains details about

  • the current fraction number
  • which RT Radiations are to be verified or delivered
  • where to continue a delivery that was interrupted in a prior treatment

session

  • in which order the RT Radiations are delivered
  • which RT Radiations are omitted during this session.

Patient Setup

  • Before treatment, the patient has to be set up depending on the

treatment location and the indication for treatment in order to guarantee safe and reproducible delivery results.

  • The setup parameters are defined during the treatment planning

process.

  • Treatment therapists will utilize the patient setup parameters as an

instruction for their setup procedure.
