Foresters Mentoring Schools

Teachers can request a forester when they pre-register in the

  • spring. We are able to match many schools with local foresters.

They make one or more visits to campus to train the students.

“The Forestry Challenge was an incredible opportunity to understand what it’s like to be a forester.” “My favorite academic part of the event was the field training and being able to work with foresters

  • ne-on-one.”

“My favorite part of this event was learning how to use the tools of the

  • trade. I have always wondered what

foresters used and why they used it. It was very informative and very fun.” “My favorite non-academic part of the event was talking to the foresters in a casual setting because I really got to connect with them.” “Field training was great! I appreciated the number of foresters helping us.”

Student Profile: Michelle Diaz

We talked about the careers and opportunities that I may encounter in the Forestry field. That was a hopeful talk we had, considering I only needed someone to believe in me to make it. I still remember you telling me something like, “You can do it all, the only difference between you and me is time”. Luckily, I applied for Humboldt State University shortly after that, and I’m happy to tell you that I’ve been admitted! I’m really excited for this new journey as a Forestry major.
