WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ENROLLMENT AT DPS IF YOU RESIDE OUTSIDE OF THE CITY AND COUNTY OF DENVER?

 Students residing outside the City and County of Denver are not guaranteed a seat in DPS; but they’re welcome to attend a DPS school!  For K-12 students who participate in the Round 1 lottery as an out-of-district resident and then move into the DPS district, please connect with the Office of Choice and Enrollment and we’ll rerun the lottery algorithm for your student.

 Second option: Right to neighborhood school or school in Zone.

 For ECE students, we’ll reset priorities as appropriate.  ECE3, ECE4, and kinder: No tuition assistance available; cost per month will be the out-of-district amount.

WHAT IS SCHOOLCHOICE?

 SchoolChoice was created in an effort to provide an equitable process to access schools for all Denver families.  1 online application and 1 deadline.  Electronic lottery process; students are “stacked” into priority groups and then ranked within priority groups by lottery number.  Students are awarded a seat at their most highly preferred school with an available seat.  If their most highly preferred school is not available, the student is placed on a live waitlist for any school ranked more highly than their accepted school; lower ranked school choices are cancelled.
